Physical literacy curriculum discussed

Manama, Mar. 22: A plan to include physical literacy programme within the nursery stage curriculum was reviewed at a meeting attended by representatives of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) and the Ministry of Labor and Social Development.

Supreme Council for Youth and Sports deputy general secretary - BOC general secretary - Abdulrahman Askar and ministry assistant undersecretary for Youth Authorities and Centres Khalid Al Kooheji had discussions on this topic at the meeting.

Rashid Al Zayani of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports general secretariat, BOC sports affairs executive director Abduljalil Asad and General Organisation for Youth and Sports representative Abdulreda Al Mosawi were also involved in discussions to qualify coaches for children and cadets clubs. 

Other reviewed subjects were supporting athletes with special needs by helping them engage in a string of sports and entertaining activities, while benefiting from specific national Sports Medicine Centre services for the elderly.

Askar thanked the Ministry of Labor and Social Development for its efforts and contributions in successfully implementing its plans, and noted the importance of achieving communication and coordination in order to ensure development of sports in the kingdom of Bahrain.

Al Kooheji extended the ministry’s keenness to adopt various programmes and activities in line with the strategy of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports with regard to childhood, disability athletes and the elderly.
