AL KOOHEJI: HONG KONG’S BELT AND ROAD INITIATIVE SHOULD BE EXPLOITED
New push to bolster Hong Kong trade ties
MANAMA: Bahrain-Hong Kong bilateral trade has the potential to grow 10-fold from the present level of $73 million, a Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry official has said. BCCI second vice-chairman Mohammed Al Kooheji told a conference at the Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel, Residence and Spa yesterday that businesses on both sides should be more proactive by seeking to unearth potential across a spectrum of spheres.
Under the auspices of the Chairman of Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) Mr. Sameer Nass, and in collaboration with Bahrain Economic Development Board (EDB) and Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), an investment conference themed “Hong Kong Investment Opportunities under the Belt and Road Initiatives” was commenced yesterday Thursday 27th September 2018.
The conference, which embraced business owners and investors from Bahrain and Hong Kong, centered on the incentives of the Belt and Road Initiative, highlighted business opportunities, and emphasised on cementing the relation between the business community of Hong Kong and its Bahraini counterpart.

Inaugurating the event, BCCI’s Second Vice-Chairman Mr. Mohammed Al Kooheji delivered a welcome address reinstating the keenness of the Bahrain Chamber on supporting all endeavors that aim at fostering business and trade between Bahrain and Hong Kong and encouraging joint projects. He also commended the efforts of Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) in holding the event.
